What to see in the surrounding area of Tempio

AGGIUS

One of the oldest villages in Northern Sardinia, characteristic for its granite-lined landscape and for its well-kept houses made of granite stone.
Here you will be able to visit the Museum of Banditry, which offers a positive view of this phenomenon that has characterised at least three centuries of history and traces its growth and decline.

Another important museum is the MEOC, the largest ethnographic museum in Sardinia, where you will also find a reconstruction of the Traditional House of Aggius and the Aggius Carpet.

If you are a lover of hiking, you can go and discover the characteristic Stazzi strolling in the Lake Santa Degna, where you will also admire cork oaks and granite., and to visit the Nuraghe Izzana, one of the best for its state of preservation. It is also worth mentioning Piana dei Grandi Sassi, better known as Moon Valley, in the Li Parisi area. Very enchanting, almost like a lunar landscape, you can wander among the granite boulders sculpted by erosion.

CALANGIANUS

Always characterised by granite, this country is also very famous for cork processing. In fact, you can visit the Cork Museum, which tell the story of the evolution of cork processing and life itself. Walking through the San Leonardo park among the cork oak groves, you will find the Sanctuary of San Sebastiano Martire and the Cigarette source. In the locality of Badu Mela, however, the Tombs of the Giants of Pascareddha are located.

For a hike, you can venture into the valley of the São Paulo, part of the Limbara park.

Stomach

Perched on a granite hill, this small village in the district hosts one of the most interesting museums: the Galluras Museum and the Eater of Souls, which recounts the story of this female figure from Sardinian tradition who ended the suffering of the dying.

Luras is also famous for its dolmen which are present in its territory, it hosts 4 entirely intact ones: Ciuledda dolmen, Ladas dolmen, Alzoledda dolmen and the Billella dolmen.
For a hike, you then need to visit the Ancient Olive Trees, located in the Karana area, near Lake Liscia, which you can also explore by boat.

In this area you will also find numerous Vermentino and Nebbiolo vineyards, and you can visit the wineries of Gallura to taste the local food and wine.

BORTIGIADAS

Small village of 800 inhabitants situated at 450 metres altitude, between granite hills and the river Coghinas. You can visit the Salizi Point, where you can admire rocks shaped by the winds and woods of holm oaks and cork oaks. Also interesting is the Mineralogical Museum, an exhibition rich in minerals, including unique pieces.

This area is the main production zone for Vermentino di Gallura, so you can't miss out on exploring the wineries and vineyards.
