Hotel Pausania Inn
Staff couldn’t be more helpful
We recently stayed ten nights at this excellent hotel (late July 2013), using it as a base for seeing north-eastern Sardinia. The facilities are good, the family room we had was clean and spacious and with a nice balcony overlooking the tennis court. The pool is nicely kept and has enough loungers—we never had a problem getting a space. Breakfast is good and varied, the evening meals are limited in choice to three options per course (different every day) but we never had any problem finding things which appealed to us. The cooking is simple but tasty and the portions are plentiful. It offers very good value, so we only occasionally indulged our daughters’ love for Pizza by going to the excellent pizzeria in the town.
The staff are the highlight of the hotel though: they really couldn’t have been more helpful, from the front desk through to the dining staff and maids, they were friendly and did everything to make our stay memorable. Tempio itself is a pleasant town, with a few good restaurants and a good selection of shops. Things to do nearby are plentiful provided you have access to a car – beaches, Maddalena Islands, the lovely Lago del Liscia (do the boat trip round the lake from the Hotel Valkarana), lots of prehistoric Nuraghe, medieval Castelsardo and local festivals such as the bizarre Night of the full Moon at Nucis in late July. If you want a peaceful hotel conveniently located within 30-40 minutes of the coast and have a car, I’d recommend this hotel highly.
