Artificial waterfalls, close to a tree-lined promenade called "Fonte Nuova"
Even during summer, when the heat can be intense elsewhere
in
Sardinia, the temperature in Tempio is generally mild. Indeed, in Tempio
one can always find shelter from the heat in a shadowy wood, along
tree-lined streets such as Fonte Nuova, Tempio's preeminent summer promenade, or on nearby Mount Limbara. Tempio is also
famous
for its springs, from which mineral (and often diuretic) water flows
abundantly throughout the year and which can be freely accessed. Its mild hilltop
climate
and the presence of curative waters contribute to making
Tempio
a holiday resort Sardinian visitors enjoy as well
as those coming
from mainland Italy and abroad. |

Cork oak
The town of Tempio lies in one of Sardinia's most fertile regions. It's easy
to find locations such as the one depicted here, where nature appears
to be particularly benevolent. About 10 km from Tempio runs the Liscia
river, on the shores of which these cork oaks grow. Not far, there are also
the millenary olive trees of Luras, known to be among Europe's most
ancient. All around, the air is filled with the scents of the Mediterranean
bush. Wandering in nature here truly is a sensuous delight. |

Pausania Inn's swimming pool
As t his photograph shows, the Inn's swimming pool is divided in two
parts. One of them is shallow, hence perfect for young children. The other
is deeper, ideal for swimming. The pool was built facing south, so during
warm months it is persistently sun kissed. Behind the swimming pool there
is a small wood of cork oaks, while the breathtaking mountains of Aggius
dominate the horizon. Lawn chairs and gazebos allow you to indulge
for long hours on the poolside. |

The mountains of Aggius
This photograph, taken at sunset from the poolside at Pausania Inn, shows the mountains of Aggius in all their majestic beauty. Indeed, their jagged profile has earned them quite a reputation. The village of Aggius and its mountains are only 5 km from Pausania Inn. Whether you admire them from
a distance - as an ideal backdrop for your days spent at the swimming pool
and the dinners you can enjoy on the hotel's panoramic terrace - or
visit
them for a nice walk, the mountains of Aggius are certainly one of the
nicest natural monuments in the area. A visit to the Ethnographic Museum
of Aggius, Sardinia's largest, is great way to learn about what life used
to be like in Sardinia in times past.

Excursions on foot amid granite cliffs
The scenery is characterized by granite rocks, molded and made smooth
by the strong Sardinian wind over the millennia. Landscapes here are frequently referred to as lunar, so much so that not far from Tempio there
is a "Moon Valley." The flora in this area is intensely aromatic, making every outdoor experience a real treat for the senses. Upon request, Pausania Inn can help
you organize an outing and entrust you to selected local guides. Whether
you want to hike your way around, ride a mountain bike, mount
on horseback,
rent a four-by-four or a quad, you can always count on Pausania Inn for directions and necessary contact information.

Pausania Inn is a family run hotel whose aim is to give visitors
a warm and friendly, yet unintrusive, welcome
Since we opened in 1998, our goal has been to make our guests
and patrons
feel at home. Besides enjoying Sardinia's beautiful
landscapes and all
the local charm, those staying at Pausania Inn should
know that they can count
of the Vargiu family and on the whole staff to obtain
any information they might need, to pose questions, or even just to engage
in
a friendly chat,
much in the same way as they would in an extended family.
In this photograph, Quinto and Nancy Vargiu, founders of the hotel,
their three children Alberto, Elizabeth and Riccardo, and little Francesco
in his mom's arms. |
